BRITISH VOGUE CAPTURES THE ESSENCE OF THE HAT

Not only are hats top of news in British Vogue but Chicago-based hatter Jenny Pfanenstiel of Formé Millinery had a hat in this fashion spread. Pfanenstiel has a wonderful cocktail hat (fascinator) in the April issue of British Vogue.

Jenny creates her hats by steaming and blocking felt and straw over antique wooden hat blocks. "I believe this preserves the past that might otherwise fade away. In addition to preserving the past, I love to reuse materials by creating a new purpose for them; some materials date back to the early 1900's."

"My goal is to have my haters look in the mirror and feel transformed, almost as if they are one with the creation of the hat. I really appreciate the craftsmanship involved in a true couture hat and I'm trying to carry on that legacy," she said.

Jenny has a women's hat line (including Derby hats) a gentlemen's hat line, baby hat line and a headband line.

Formé Millinery's fascinator collection will be modeled at The Drake Hotel in Chicago on April 29th. The event will celebrate the royal wedding and is called, "London's Calling – The Royal Wedding Tea Party". The fashion show begins at noon.
